Comet C/2019 JU6 (ATLAS)

5月12日UT、小惑星状天体が、Haleakalaにある小惑星地球衝突最終警報システム Asteroid Terrestrial-
impact Last Alert System (ATLAS)調査プログラムのコースに0.5-m 反射望遠鏡で得たCCD画像から発見
された。小惑星センターによって2019 JU6の仮符号がつけられた(MPS 99664; 2日間のアークによる軌道
はMPEC 2019-J141を参照)。
佐藤英貴氏(東京都文京区, iTelescope 天文台, 0.43-m f/6.8 アストログラフ, Mayhill近郊, ニュー
メキシコ州, 遠隔操作、5月14.4日と15.4日UT、スタックイメージで、強く集光した12"〜15"のコマ見え
るが、尾はない。両日とも9".6の円形範囲で測定した光度は18.2等であった)らCCD位置観測者によって
彗星状と観測された。

     Initially reported (and designated on MPS 996641) as an asteroid,
subsquent observation has shown the object to be a comet.  L. Buzzi (204,
May 14) reported a 12" coma and a faint 12" tail in P.A. ~230 in 30 stacked
30-s exposures.  B. Lutkenhoner (G40, May 14) described a 5".2 FWHM (compared
to 4".4 for field stars) and a faint tail at least 13" long in P.A. 230 in
15 stacked 50-s exposures.  Lutkenhoner (G40, May 18) noted a 6".4 FWHM
(compared to 3".7 for field stars).  R. Wainscoat (F52, May 21) suspected
that the images showed cometary features.
