Comet P/2002 AR2 = 2013 Y1 (LINEAR) 12月25日UT、J. V. Scotti (月惑星研究所:LPL、Arizona大学)は、Kitt PeakのSpacewatch 1.8-m f/2.7 反射望遠鏡 (+ Finger Lakes Instruments ProLine Model PL3041-LC camera + Schott OG-515 filter)で得た画像から20.6等のP/2002 AR2を検出した。9"のコマがあり、核の中心が少し 不均斉で尾はなかった。 Scottiの通報の後に、G. V. Williamsは9月14日(Scotti: Kitt Peakの0.9-m f/3反射望遠鏡)と 9月24日(R. E. Hill: Mount Lemmonの1.5-m 反射望遠鏡)、それに10月9日(E. J. Christensen: Mount Lemmonの1.5-m 反射望遠鏡)の検出前の観測を見つけ追加した。 検出位置は次のとおり、 2013 UT R.A.
