クラスの平均年齢が約70歳の学校が兵庫県尼崎市にあります。この学校の名称は尼崎市立成良中学琴城分校、夜間の公立中学校です。この学校で学んでいるのは、さまざまな事情で日本の義務教育を受けることができなかった人たちです。戦前に日本が植民地にした朝鮮半島から強制労働や徴用で日本に来た人、戦後日本に帰ることが出来ず中国に残留した人とその子孫たち、戦後の混乱期に学校に行くことの出来なかった日本人、そしてこの1、2年前頃から増えてきたのが、アジアの諸国からいろいろな理由で日本に来た人たちです。
尼崎市のアマチュアカメラマン宗景正さんはこの学校で学ぶ在日外国人たちを10年間撮り続け，写真集を発刊しました．宗景さんは「高度に情報化された社会に暮らしながら、文字を使うことができないために不自由な生活を余儀なくされて生きてきた人たちから、駅の名前の字が読めたことや，孫に手紙が書けたことの喜びを聞き、私自身が忘れていた学ぶ喜びを思い出しながら、10年間撮影に通いました。戦後60年の歩みが，小さな夜の学舎に凝縮されているのです」と話しています．

There is a school in Amagasaki city of Japan where the average age of the students in a class is about 70. The name is Amagasaki City Seiryo Junior High School Kinjo Branch School and it is a night public junior high school. People studying here could not get Japanese compulsory education under various situations. They are people who came from Korea, that was once a Japanese colony, to Japan for compulsory labor or recruitment, people who could not come back from China to Japan and left in China for a long time after the World War II, their children and grandchildren, or Japanese who could not go to school in the chaotic time after the war. For the past 1 or 2 years, many Asian people who came to Japan for various reasons joined the school.
Mr. Munekage, an amateur cameraman in Amagasaki, has taken pictures of the foreign residents studying at the night school for 10 years and published a photo album, “Foreign Residents at Night Junior High School in Japan”. Mr. Munekage says, “People who were forced to live an inconvenient life out of literacy while living in a highly computerized society told me how delight it was to be able to read the name of a station or to write a letter to their grandchildren. It reminds me of a pleasure in learning and that made me to go to the school for taking photos for 10 years. The unknown side of 60-year history after the war is condensed in the small night school.”
