>全身の皮膚発疹についてIt is very comforting to know there is a great doctor like yourself who
really cares. Dear Dr. Adachi, Forgive us for using English to write to
you our computer does not have Japanese word processing capability, however,
we can receive and understand your reply in Japanese. My wife is 00 years
old with hyperthyroidism since 1990 that has been under control without
medication during the past five years. Two weeks ago she developed and
still has a red skin rash all over her body with no fever or other symptoms.
She recently saw a dermatologist who diagnosed her problem as a simple
skin rash and prescribed her a Vitamin B supplement and a steroid lotion.
During the past few days her rash on the front part of her groin area has
worsened and she is now experiencing pain there which seems to be the lymph
gland area. She also is suffering from lower back pain on the right side
for about three months now. Any help and/or suggestions you can provide
would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely,
00000 (98/ 3/21 22:01 神奈川県 Zさん)

(98/3/22) Dear 00000 Your name is written as 00000. So,I imagine that you are an English teacher in Japan coming from your native country. I sympathize sincerely that you are worried about your wife staying in your foreign country. We see simple skin rash quite often, however it is unusual that it appears all area of the body and even continues for more than two weeks. Malignant diseases such as malignant lymphoma or cancer in gastrointestinal tract and related skin reaction should be ruled out although the possibility is very low. Collagen diseases or autoimmune related diseases such as systemic lupus erythema tosis are also considered as they tend to show skin lesion all over the body. However, low grade fever usually coexists in this situation. I suggest you and your wife to consult a dermatologist or see a general physician again as long as the symptom continues or moreover it worsens. True diagnosis is sometimes revealed after several examinations or by a different doctor. It will relieve you and leads to an effective treatment. It is not rare that the lymphnodes swell and become painful when those lesion has slight skin infection. Autoimmune diseases or lymphomas often have swelling of lymphnodes, too. I wrote to you in English hoping you understand easily in case you and your wife are not good at Japanese which might not be the case as you read my homepage and understand very well. Indication of unnatural or a strange part of English in this letter which you noticed is appreciated. Hoping my information and advice will be of any help to you and to your wife. Sincerely, Noriaki Adachi MD.PhD.
