Why is Teenage Pregnancy Declining? The Roles of Abstinence, Sexual Activity and Contraceptive Use

The recent decline in the teenage pregnancy rate in the United States is a very welcome development, and the reasons for this decrease have been the subject of much speculation. By documenting the components of change in teenagersf reproductive behavior, this report is a crucial first step down the path toward further improvement. It has shown that the teenage birthrate has decreased since 1991 because of lower pregnancy rates among sexually experienced women aged 15-19, not because of a rise in abortions.
