A continuing and serious threat of school shootings and other youth violence is deeply rooted in unhealthy attitudes about violence and easy access to guns, according to a Josephson Institute of Ethics survey of more than 15,000 teenagers. In issuing the first of a series of reports based on a national survey administered in 2000, Michael Josephson, the Institute's president, said, "The seeds of violence can be found in schools all over America. Today's teens, especially boys, have a high propensity to use violence when they are angry, they have easy access to guns, drugs and alcohol, and a disturbing number take weapons to school."
