（7−7）の場合、〈ジョージの父は、未だにその学校では教師たちに愛されている優秀な卒業生であった。〉と読んでも、重大な誤解が生じているようには思えない｡ しかし、並置関係の把握が容易であることに加え､並置要素の形態が簡明でありその内容も分かり易い、例えば次のような事例の場合を除けば、非制限的修飾要素を制限的修飾要素のように読むのは控える方が無難である｡

   上記のごとき心構えの大切さは、動詞辞"be"に続く位置にある補辞が「theを伴う名詞句」である場合を考えてみると、多少は実感されるであろう｡
